Easily & Quickly Setting up Affiliate Product Shops on Your Site, Blog Pages or Posts!

This is a tutorial to building yourself online shops, like you see on this site.

Many visitors have emailed me about this, wanting to know how I've built this site. I can do similar ones for you (contact me with your requirements and offer) or you can do it yourself.
With the help of this tutorial you'll know the most important tools and steps necessary.

One of the most bothersome things I noticed during my various site building for my niches, was that after the hassle of getting the right product image and so on, the merchant would pull off the offer or product… And I would need to start another product search for my shop…

Friend, Save Yourself Time! Why Bother Manually Adding, Updating and Removing Terminated Products You're Promoting On Your Site/Blogs When You Can Automate?

Online stores are a booming business. But what if you don't have products of your own to sell, yet want to profit from this multi billion dollar online marketplace?

I) There are a 2 basic option before you in order to get a revenue share of sales:

  1. You get some cloned shops - either offered for free or in some cases the merchants even charge their affiliates every month! I think this is rediculous. Somewhat like paying to buy a T-shirt with a logo of some company I then end up promoting for free on top of it all… Anyway, I guess it's a good business model for the companies affiliate promotions

  2. You become an affiliate of one or more product owner/s in your niche and promote their stuff online for a percentage of revenue from any sales you've brought in and generated.

TIP: Some of the good affiliate marketplaces I use to source related products are     ShareaSale.com, CommissionJunction.com, LinkConnector.com
Please pay attention to the fact many merchants require you to join their campaign and get approved per each of your websites.

II) Next, you'll need your online presence!

  • Build your own site or better still - a blog site for each niche  and/or
  • You use free web 2.0 properties like Squidoo etc. These are easy and faster, but you will get ads on your pages and perhaps it vanishes one day if they decide it is junk.

III) You are now ready to promote the product on your sites/properties.

  1. You'll need to get the banner codes or the product link codes and embed these on your site.

Tip: I use the EasyLinkManager script  to get rid of the ugly affiliate links when someone hovers over the link. Instead, they will see a pretty link which doesn't look like an affiliate link.

You could use various advertising methods such as:

  • PayPerClick advertising, (my favorite 2 resources: googlecash and Perry's famous PPC definite guide).
  • Placing banners on your website
  • Getting involved in forums and leaving in every discussion your signatures including of course the affiliate link.
  • Placing free classified ads on CraigsList and on other similar sites online.
  • Writing articles and distributing them online (Article Marketing)
  • Blogging away and heavily blog marketing your blog
  • Using web 2.0 properties to promote and link back to your site or directly provide your affiliate link to the merchant in each property. Properties are for example Squidoo lenses or HubPages. (Here's a good tutorial for using HubPages to promote online)
  1. Another alternative would be to embed product feeds into your related posts or pages - to create pages looking like a shop.
If you're using a blog than creating a new page is easy.
Popshops.com offer WP plugin for creating your shops. See shops on this site for usability examples (I use the paid version upgrade for getting rid of their ads and for some enhanced features).

My site building resource tips:

  • For blog building I prefer Wordpress as it is free, easy to use, has many free plugins to enhance it.
From a hosted account with a C-Panel and Fantastico it is but one click to install.
  • See here for article on best low-cost hosting or go directly to get best low cost hosting here  - They are the ones I always use and have had excellent experience with them.
  • As I prefer to go few steps ahead I use a WP blog CMS. This is the one I use. It already has around 100 plugins fully configured, hacked and enhanced and they all function… and so you do not waste your time searching, uploading, upgrading, crashing & repairing your site. Yields you a High Powered eCommerce site with best SEO features.
  • For web 2.0 automated social bookmarking for your blog posts >>
  • If you need to build multiple sites for different niches, then get the auto-installer >>
  • For writing articles fast and researching any topic I use: Article Wizzard Pro >>
Great tool for creating content for your site and for promoting the product you sell as an affiliate.

Another tip:
You can also use WP blog for adding eBay product feeds   from specific product auctions and add these to your blog posts or pages. See example here  - see on the right hand sidebar the section with "EOS Camera Auction"? Click it to see how the landing page looks- nice, right?

Creating eBay RSS product auction feed for your site, your HubPages, your WP blog or sempro CMS enhanced power-blogs:

  1. After you've become an eBay affiliate, go to the advanced search page on eBay.
  2. Enter the search criteria (your KeyWord, like for example "EOS Camera") - this is for generating your RSS feed.
  3. Under the Affiliate Tracking Information section, please select eBay Partner Network, enter your Campaign ID, and click Search.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the search results page displayed and click on the orange RSS logo.
  5. Select the URL of the XML page from your browser
  6. Go into your blog admin panel, click on the "Presentation" tab >> then select "Widgets" from sub menu. If you use the wonderful CMS I recommended above, then you'll easily be able to drag widgets to your preferred location on your pages or posts. Grab a text box and drag it to a sidebar. click on it, paste the eBay RSS code into it, click save and that's it!

Alternatively, you could create an ad ("Presentation" tab >> "Ads") to appear on any page or post with rules who sees it and when etc… Possibilities are unlimited!

So, with your own site blog or even with one or more HubPages (or other free web 2.0 property) you are ready to roll! The eBay auction product feeds and popshops can be placed almost anywhere. Go for it!
